Adopt
a dog
We
have many dogs waiting to be adopted here at West End Shelter. Some are
owner releases, where the previous owner was no longer able to keep the
animal, and others are rescues, usually from local humane societies.
It
does not matter how they came to West End Shelter, but it does matter
where they go from here.
To ensure the best possible home for our animals, West End Shelter uses
the following adoption process:
1. Find an animal you
are interested in.
(If possible, meet and spend some
time with the animal here at
the
shelter. If you have
other dogs they need to meet the
new pet also)
2. Complete an adoption application
(All applications need to be
completed fully or they cannot be
reviewed)
3. All applications are reviewed
(At this point a further interview
and a home check might be
scheduled at
the shelter’s discretion)
4. Application approval or disapproval
(We will notify you whether you are
approved or not)
5. Completion of Adoption Process
Filling out all paper work
Payment of Adoption Donation
Purchase of an Id tag
6. Take home your new companion
(We will provide a collar, leash and
a take-home bag of dog food)

In order to be
considered as an adopter, you must fill out this application completely,
be 21 years of age or older and have identification showing your present
living address; if you rent, be able to produce consent from your
landlord; and be able to spend the necessary time and money to provide
medical treatment and proper care for your dog or cat. Any prospective adopter will be interviewed by a shelter representative
and the shelter reserves the right to inspect prospective homes for
suitability, to insure a good home for the dog or cat. Any false
information will automatically disqualify this and any future adoption
applications. We do not ship any of our animals.
Completion of the application does not guarantee adoption of a West
End Shelter pet.
